The Physics Home – Energy

Posted in 8th Grade at 9:08 am by slesscience

Each group picks a different room from the physics house.  Comment to this post with a paragraph that describes all of the types of energy that you would find in that room.

We did the living room and we found that in the room there were different types of energy. The types of energy we found were elastic potential energy in the couch. Thermal energy in the lights. Also kinetic energy in the fan that is on and moving.

we are doing the bathroom and here
    is th´potential energy:
the sink, toilete and shower have both potential energy because they ar´ waiting to be used/ turned on.

HEY THERE! WE LOOKED AT THE BATHROOM
THERMAL ENERGY IN THE AIR VENTS
KINETIC ENERGY FROM THE PERSON PUSHING DOWN THE TOILET FLUSHER
THERMAL ENERGY IN THE LIGHT BULB
ELETRIC ENERGY FROM THE STREIGHTENER PLUGGED INTO THE WALL

We are going to do Enrique’s room. There is electric energy in the light bulb, the fan, the ipod, and the ipod speakers. There is Elastic potential energy in his pen that is in his room, a rubber band also has it. There is potential energy in his yo-yo that is winded up, and the fan when it is off as well as the light bulb. Mariano jumping on my bed is kinetic energy. The grape I found under my bed has chemical potential energy.Eduardo’s cross that is hung on top of the wall is gravitational potential energy.

    Zacks Closet
    Thermal energy from the lightbulb
Potenial Gravitational Energy which is clothes hanging on a hanger
Kinetic energy from all the bugs flyin around
Elastic energy from my stretchy shorts and fake ties
Chemical energy from the moth balls that i might have at the back of my closet. I think.
Potential Energy from the piles of things ready to hit me
    My closet is awesome

    Attic-

    >The lights have thermal and chemical potential energy
    >A box sitting on the shelf would have gravitational energy
    >Spiders and bugs crawling around have chemical energy from rusting metals
    >A person going up to the attic to move boxes has kinetic energy
    >The sun rays shining through the window have thermal energy
    >The rocks and trunks have gravitational energy
    >Grandfather clock has potential energy by when it ticks
    >Rubber bands around files and boxes have elastic energy
    >The leftover bones from old people have gravitational energy

I chose to do my room-

    There is:
-Kinetic energy in the blades of the fan
-Potential gravitational energy in the pens sitting on the desk
    -Thermal energy in the lights
-Nuclear, chemical potential, and thermal energy in the sunlight coming through the windows
-Chemical potential energy in the computer screen
-Elastic potential energy in the springs in the bed
